2nd Annual Timberland Supply Chainsaw Carving Competition

After the smashing success of Timberland Supply’s inaugural chainsaw carving competition last September, the event returned for 2018 with more competitors, more sponsors, more demonstrations, and more door prizes for spectators!

Congratulations to Marina Cole, who claimed first place and thus successfully defended her title from the inaugural competition!

Here is everything you need to know about the 2018 Timberland Supply Chainsaw Carving Competition:

Friday from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm, Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The competition will be held at Timberland Supply, 11010 Mayfield Road N.W, Edmonton, Alberta T5P 4B6.

Competition Rules

The competition will be an open chainsaw carving–the competitors will have a 1 x 6’ by 28” (minimum) log to carve over 3 days in whatever manner they choose.

The log draw for carvers will be held at 9:00 am on Friday morning.  Winners will be decided by a panel of judges from the Northern Alberta Wood Carvers Association.

The competition winner will receive a battery powered chainsaw (SE62 power vacuum from STIHL), plus a prize pack from Husqvarna. All contestants will receive free shirts and other gear from the competition sponsors.

Specials, Promotions and Demos

Throughout the event, there will be special offers, demonstrations, and promotions going on at Timberland Supply.  Here’s what we have planned currently:

STIHL Specials – 5% additional discount across all promotional lines; in addition we will have 5% promotional discounts on wood working gear, safety gear, carving bars and chains.

Husqvarna Specials – 5% additional discount across all promotional lines; in addition we will have 5% promotional discounts on wood working gear, safety gear, and carving bars and chains.

Also, Husqvarna will hold a contest for the “best” (as in worst) used chainsaw that a customer trades in for a new saw during the competition.  There will be a special prize (to be determined by Husqvarna) awarded to the winner.

Big Bear/Sherrill Tree – 5% additional discount on all line products, plus will supply products for door prizes

On-site radio remote: On Saturday, radio station 99.3 UP  will broadcast live from Timberland Supply.  They will be promoting the event on 102.3 for 2 weeks before hand.

Timberland Custom Chain Saw Demos – demonstrations of our Timbertuned and Bakerized custom chain saws will go on throughout the event

Climbing Demo / Arborist Demo: Tree Ninja will have climbing demonstration using their 50 ft bucket truck.

Chainsaw Milling Clinic:  Held by Jim Kostiuk from Ft McMurray  on Friday; Brad from Got Stump on Saturday / Sunday)

Silent Auction: A silent auction will be held for the carvings created by the artists at the end of the competition, with proceeds going to the artists.
